1. Allan Frederick Dwyer Prize
Awarded to Registrars who present the best papers
at the Registrars' Conference each year.
1ST PRIZE: Air fare to attend American Academy of Orthopaedic
Surgeons Meeting the following year, plus payment of registration
fee and accommodation expenses for the duration of the meeting.
2ND PRIZE: Air fare to attend Australian Orthopaedic Association
Annual Scientific Meeting in year of Registrar's Conference,
plus payment of registration fee and accommodation for the duration
of the meeting.
The registrar who is awarded the first prize will have the opportunity
to present his/her paper at the October Australian Orthopaedic
Association Annual Scientific Meeting. The Scientific Secretary
will also try to ensure that the second prize winner has the
opportunity to present his/her paper at the same Australian Orthopaedic
Association Annual Scientific Meeting.
(A prize is also awarded by the Surgical Research Society of
Australia at the AORA Conference each year. This prize supports
the registrar to attend the S.R.S.A Meeting. For details contact
the Surgical research Society of Australia.) The prizes were donated by Stryker.
2. THE GORDON KERRIDGE PRIZE
A prize of $1000 awarded annually to an orthopaedic
Registrar for a paper which best demonstrates an analytical approach
to the clinical practice of orthopaedic surgery presented at
the Australian Orthopaedic Association Annual Scientific Meeting.
The awarded is sponsored by Gordon Kerridge, an orthopaedic surgeon,
to encourage younger researchers in the area of orthopaedics.
3.AOA TRAVELLING AWARD
Funds are available to support overseas travel
for registrars in training who wish to gain surgical experience
and also for surgeons who have completed their training and wish
to undertake a further period of postgraduate study.
1.The Fellowship are open to trainees who expect to spend a period of not less than 12 months abroad in a recognised training post. Appointments to non-specialised service posts do not not qualify for support.
2. A Fellowship grant may be used to assist an Australian registrar to undertake a pre-arranged exchange with a North American or British counterpart.
3. A Fellowship will not be awarded unless confirmatory documentary
evidence of the overseas post is provided.
4. The funds available vary according to the number of applicants
and are used to defray travel expenses.
Applications should be accompanied by a curriculum vitae with details
of the proposed overseas post and a letter of support from the
Chairman of the Regional Training Programme.

5. AO - SCHOLARSHIPS
These scholarships are available for up to 12 weeks in internationally recoginised clinics in Europe, USA, UK and Australia.

6. EVELYN HAMILTON AWARD
A prize of $400 is awarded for the best scientific paper delivered at the AOA Scientific Meeting.
