The National Joint Replacement Registry is an initiative of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA). At the time it was established, the Federal Board of the AOA nominated a specific Registry Committee to develop policies for the operation of the Registry. This committee reports to the AOA Board of Directors three times each year.
Members of the committee include the Chairman (who is nominated from the AOA Directors), the Registry Director and Deputy Director, an orthopaedic surgeon from each state and territory, the AOA Treasurer and the Chief Executive Officer of the AOA. The current members of the committee are:

The Director of the Registry, who is appointed by the AOA Board, is responsible for the day-to-day management with the assistance of the Deputy Director (also appointed by the AOA Board. In addition, the AOA employs a Registry Coordinator who is involved in maintaining liaison with hospitals, surgeons and the government as well as implementing new strategies and coordinating the preparation of the annual report.
The Registry is situated at the University of Adelaide within the Royal Adelaide Hospital and each week the Director, Deputy Director and the Registry Co-ordinator meet with the data management consultants contracted by the AOA to discuss the operation of the registry.

The Data Management and Analysis Centre, University of Adelaide, is currently contracted by the AOA to provide data management and analysis services for the Registry.
In 2005, a Registry Funding Group was formed to undertake liaison with the Commonwealth on matters related to Registry Funding. This Group consists of the Director, the Deputy Director, the Honorary Treasurer of the AOA and the CEO of the AOA.
