The AOA has taken the top prize at the 2014 Adelaide University Innovation Awards, thanks to its world best practice joint replacement registry.

The AOA National Joint Replacement Registry (AOANJRR), the world’s leading database of the performance of devices used in joint replacement surgery, was voted by the general public as the leading innovation for 2014.

Determined by public vote, the AOA took the title, ahead of five other award finalists, for its work in maintaining the AOA National Joint Replacement Registry and the innovative outcomes that have resulted.

David Davidson, Inaugural Chair of the AOANJRR Committee and current Deputy Director, accepted the award on behalf of AOA at the ceremony held in Adelaide on Friday 24 October 2014.

Warm congratulations are extended to AOANJRR Director Professor Stephen Graves who has resiliently and professionally stewarded the establishment, development and growth of the registry since it was first conceptualised in 1997. Special mention also to the important contribution provided by Professor Richard De Steiger, Deputy Director; Dr Peter Lewis, Deputy Director; and Ann Tomkins, AOANJRR Coordinator.

Many thanks to all those members who took the time to vote for the AOANJRR.
