Orthopaedic Women's Link (OWL)

OWL is an advocate for women in orthopaedics.

The organisation was founded in 2012 to assist with connecting women working in the field of orthopaedics and establishing mentorship within the orthopaedic profession.

OWL aims to encourage and support women through their orthopaedic careers, from as early as medical school, through to consultant level.

Other agendas include creating visible role models, encouraging women to pursue and complete orthopaedic surgical training, education issues, monitoring gender-related matters and statistics, and providing advice to women trying to overcome work-life challenges.

Issues currently being addressed by OWL include: radiation safety and pregnancy, return to work after maternity leave, international policies and organisations of same, and looking at training problems vs. gender issues.
