The Digital Radiology Committee invites members and interested stakeholders to join a panel of experts to discuss the improvement of diagnostics, impact of digital technologies, and challenges facing radiology.

The webinar will cover the following topics:

The history of radiology in Australia
Corporate and individual perspectives on the impact of advancements – radiology industry group and consumer views
Proposed approaches and solutions to help shape the future of digital radiology practice

The webinar for AOA members will be worth 1.5 CPD hours towards the Educational Activities section of your 2023 CPD.

Chair and moderator

Dr John Cunningham OAM
AOA Digital Radiology Committee Chair

John is an Australian-trained orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in spinal disorders including ageing, trauma and imbalance. In 2010, John completed a Masters of Clinical Epidemiology, allowing him to design and conduct clinical studies. John has conducted and published research for more than two decades, and is fully abreast of all current techniques and science relating to the treatment of spinal conditions (with a special interest in spondylolisthesis).

John was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2016 for his services to medicine and immunisation.

Dr Julian Adler
Australian Diagnostic Imaging Association (ADIA) President
Sonic Radiology CEO

Julian trained as a radiologist in Perth and Sydney, undertaking subspecialty training in Vancouver in neuroradiology. He is the CEO of Castlereagh Imaging and Illawarra Imaging Group, both part of Sonic Healthcare. Julian has broad experience across a range of private radiology settings. Before joining Sonic in 2008, he co-founded an international teleradiology business, Everlight teleradiology. Julian was appointed to his current position as ADIA President in 2011.

Chris Kane
ADIA CEO

Chris graduated Monash University with a Bachelor in Law/Arts (Politics) and joined ADIA in 2013 as a senior policy advisor. An astute political observer and strategist, Chris became CEO in 2018.

Janney Wale
Consumer advocate

Janney became a consumer representative in 2000 as a result of her history with musculoskeletal issues. Janney has served as a consumer representative on the Prostheses List Advisory Committee (PLAC), National Joint Replacement Registry Consultative Committee, Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) Advisory Council, the Department of Health Prostheses Reform Benefits Setting Industry Working Group for the agreement between MTAA and the Commonwealth on prostheses, and is a member of a PLAC Clinical Advisory Group. Janney enjoy working with a range of stakeholders including the medical profession to strive for consumer value in health care.

Paul Carroll
Engagement Lead, Australian Digital Health Agency (the Agency)

Paul studied laboratory science and worked in the public hospital sector prior to joining the Agency in 2016 to assist in the participation of My Health Record by diagnostic imaging and pathology providers.

The Australian Digital Health Agency aims to improve health outcomes for Australians through the delivery of national digital health services and systems. The Agency partners with healthcare professionals, industry and governments to drive and provide digital technologies across the health ecosystem and engages with healthcare consumers to improve their healthcare journey, with a focus on access and equity for those who need it most.

Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR)

Founded in 1935, the RANZCR is a non-profit professional organisation for clinical radiologists and radiology oncologists in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. The College administers training programs, accreditation for overseas-trained specialists, and continuing professional development for members. Through policy, advocacy, quality and standards, and research activities, RANZCR works with members to promote the science and practice of clinical radiology and radiation oncology.
